COLUMBUS, MS We spoke with a manager at Kroger recently, and confirmed that their plans to expand the store are coming along nicely. Their tenants will be moving to new locations, and it looks like nearly all of them have already found new locations to set up shop. Put down your pitchforks — The UPS Store is indeed among them, and they won’t be moving far! The expansion is slated to begin once UPS and Buddy’s have finished moving out.
It‘s been known for quite some time now that they have been wanting to expand from a Class IV-size store to a Class V, similar to their Starkville location. They want to expand it in order to better serve their local customers and keep up with demand. It seems that day is not all that far off. For those who’ve not been to the SV Kroger, it has a larger deli and meat department, a coffee shop and sushi shop, a seating area, a massive cheese section with lots of imported cheeses, and more. It remains to be seen what new features the current local building can accommodate.
They are planning to pump several million dollars into the project. We’ll keep y’all updated as we learn more!
